Question 923084: You have 20 coins, all nickels and quarters. They add up to $4.90, how many nickels do you have?

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20064) About Me  (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You have 20 coins, all nickels and quarters. They add up to $4.90, how many nickels do you have?
There is no solution because if all 20 were quarters, you'd have $5, just 10
cents more than $4.90 and if you took away one quarter and replaced it with a
nickel you'd have only $4.80. And if you replaced any more quarters with
nickels you'd have even less than that. So it's impossible to have exactly
$4.90 all in nickels and dimes. $4.80 is the most you can have.
