Let x = score on 6th game

We have these 6 scores: 10, 14, 8, 18, 11, x

Add them up: (10+14+8+18+11+x)

Divide by 6: (10+14+8+18+11+x)/6

Set that quotient equal to 13, the average we want: (10+14+8+18+11+x)/6 = 13

Now solve for x


(10+14+8+18+11+x)/6 = 13


10+14+8+18+11+x = 13*6


10+14+8+18+11+x = 78


61+x = 78


x = 78-61


x = 17


The team must score 17 points to average 13 points per game (over the 6 games played).
