Question 921759: I need help with finding the dimensions of a box with a volume of 720 cubic inches. I drew a rectangular box and labeled the sides with the info I got. The width is 3x its height and its length is 11 inches more than its height .i took 3 and multiplied it by 4 and took 4 and 4 added together and got 8. That is all I have done.

Language skills are important:
The width is 3x three times its height, and its length is 11 inches more than its height.

Length = h+11
Width = 3h
Height = h

Volume of the box given as 720 cubic inches.
L*W*H=VOLUME

3h%5E2%28h%2B11%29-720=0
3h%5E3%2B33h%5E2-720=0
h%5E3-11h%5E2-240=0

You could use Rational Roots theorem and synthetic division...
but a quick check in google search engine's graphing capability shows h=12.5

I need help with finding the dimensions of a box with a volume of 720 cubic inches. I drew a rectangular box and labeled the sides with the info I got. The width is 3x its height and its length is 11 inches more than its height .i took 3 and multiplied it by 4 and took 4 and 4 added together and got 8. That is all I have done. 


Height:  highlight_green%284%29 inches

Width:  highlight_green%2812%29 inches

Length: highlight_green%2815%29 inches
