You can put this solution on YOUR website! The lines y=x and y=2x-5 intersect at the point a . Find the equation of the line with gradient 2/5 that passes through the point A . -----
 First, find A::
 Substitute for "y" and solve for "x":
 x = 2x-5
 x = 5
 -----
 Since y = x, y = 5
 ----------------------
 A is (5,5)
 ----------------
 Second: Find the equation with slope = 2/5 passing thru (5,5)
 Form:: y = mx + b
 Substitute and solve for "b"::
 5 = (2/5)5 + b
 5 = 2 + b
 b = 3
 ------
 Ans: y = (2/5)x + 3
 ----------------------
