Question 918059: The first side of a triangle is 10'' more than the second side. If the third side is three times as long as the second side and the perimeter is 45" find the lengths of the three sides.
I've been trying to work this problem out and I know I am doing something wrong. What is the correct way to do this?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

first = x +10
second = x
third = 3x
the perimeter is the sum of the 3 sides = 45
x +10 + x + 3x = 45
5x +10 = 45
5x = 35
x= 7
first= 7+ 10 = 17
second = 7
third = 3*7 = 21
