Question 91772: Hello out there,I need some help with some really hard problems, the first one is,Find the axis of symmetry for y=x^-2.The next one is,Find the vertex for y=x^-2.The third one is,Describe how the graph of y=x^2-1 changes from the parent graph of y=x^2.And the last one is,Describe how the graph of y=(xnegative6)+5 changes from the parent graph of y=x^2.Thanks to whoever can help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Answers:
1) notice that the exponent is -2, an even number so it is symmetric about y axis
see graph below:
graph%28200%2C200%2C+-3%2C3%2C+-1%2C10%2C+x%5E-2%29
2)the vertex is infinity, when x approaches 0, x%5E%28-2%29 approaches infinity
3)If you move the graph of y+=+x%5E2 one unit to downwards, you get the
graph of y+=+x%5E2+-1
see graph below
+y+=+x%5E2 -- red; y+=+x%5E2-1 -- green
graph%28+200%2C200%2C+-3%2C3%2C+-2%2C10%2C+x%5E2%2Cx%5E2-1%29+
4) I am not sure if your question is a valid one or not. Basically these two have nothing to do with each other. See graph below.
graph%28200%2C200%2C+-3%2C3%2C+-10%2C30%2C+x%5E2%2Cx%5E-6%2B5%29
