With what I got is that there are 36 pennies. I just don't get it & would really appreciate help.

let x be the number of pennies, then we have
.01x + .05*3x + .25*(x+3) = 4.44
.01x + .15x + .25x + .75
combine like terms and subtract .75 from both sides of =
.41x = 3.69
x = 9
there are 9 pennies, 27 nickels, and 12 quarters
