Question 91625: Hello out there,I need some help with some factoring problems,the first one is,Solve by factoring:-2Y(y+4)=0.The next one is,Solve by factoring:(m-6)(m+5)=0.The third one is,Solve by factoring:x^2+3x+2=0.And the last one is,Solve for factoring:4p(p-1)=0.Thanks to whoever can help me.

Here you can make use of the fact that, if a*b = 0, then either a= 0 or b= 0
Answers:
-2Y(y+4)=0

==> either -2y = 0 or y+4 = 0
Take -2y = 0

Divide both sides by -2
==>

==> y = 0

Now take y + 4 = 0

Subtract 4 from both sides....

y + 4 - 4 = 0 - 4

==> y = -4
So the solution is y = 0 or y = -4

(m-6)(m+5)=0
==> either m-6 = 0 or m+5 = 0

m-6 = 0
Add 6 on both sides...

m - 6 + 6 = 0 + 6

==> m = 6
If m+5 = 0

Subtract 5 from both sides..

m + 5 - 5 = 0 - 5

==> m = -5
That is the solution is,
m= 6 or m = -5

This can be written as

==> x + 1 = 0 or x + 2 = 0

x + 1 = 0
x+ 1 - 1 = 0 -1

x = -1

x + 2 = 0

x + 2 - 2 = 0 - 2

So the solution is x = -1 or x = -2

==> 4p = 0 or p - 1 = 0

4p = 0

divide both sides by 4

==> p = 0

p - 1 = 0
==> p - 1 + 1 = 0 + 1

==> p = 1

So the solution is, p = 0 or p = 1
