You can put this solution on YOUR website! A metal bar, 60 cm long, is to be divided into four parts. Two of the bars are to have the same lengths and the other two parts are also of equal lengths, but each of the first two are to be 4 cm shorter than each of the other two parts. Find the length of each.
***
let x=length of each of the 1st two parts
x+4=length of each of the 2nd two parts
x+x+x+4+x+4=60
4x+8=60
4x=52
x=13
x+4=17
length of each of the 1st two parts=13 cm
length of each of the 2nd two parts=17 cm
