Question 913831: Below is my question. I've I understand parts B and C, but am having trouble with A. If you could help it would really be appreciated :)
MPC makes personal computers that are then sold directly over the phone and over the Internet. one of the most critical factors in the PC makers it's how fast they can turn their inventory of parts. Faster inventory means lower average inventory cost. recently at a meeting the vice president of manufacturing said that there is no reason to continue offering hard drive that has less than 250 GB storage capacity since less than 10% of MPC customers ask for the smaller hard drive. After much discussion and debate about the accuracy of the vice presidents figure it was decided to sample 100 orders in the past week sales. The sample reveals 14 requested for drivers but less than 250 GB capacity.
A) determine the probability of finding 14 or more request like this the vice presidents assertion is correct. Do you believe that the proportion of customers requesting hard drives with 250 GB storage capacity is a small as 0.10? Explain.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Ho: p <= 0.10 (claim)
Ha: p > 0.4
..........
sample 100: mean = 14/100 = .14
test stat:: z(0.14) = (0.14-0.10)/sqrt[0.1*0.9/100] = 1.33
-----
p-value = P(z > 1.33) = .0918
.......At a 90% confidence level
.09 < .10, reject claim
HOwever: 95% most generally used
.09 > .05
Not sufficient evidence to reject claim
Depends on confidence level used
