Question 91267This question is from textbook beginning algebra
: A bus leaves a station at 1 pm, travelling west at an average rate of 44mi/h. At 2 pm on the same day a second bus leaves the same station, travelling east at a rate of 48 mi/h. Approximately at what time will the two busses be 274 mi apart? This is as far as I got in understanding what to do. I realize I'm dealing with d = r * t, So,
44t + 48(t-1) =274
44t+48t-48=274
92t-48=274
92t=322
Help! please.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y don't u solve for t
t = 322/92
= 3.5 hours
so @ 4.30pm the busses will be 274m apart
