It passes through (2,6) so (x,y) = (2,6)

y=(A+1)x+8

6=(A+1)(2)+8 ... plug in (x,y) = (2,6)

6=2A+2+8

6=2A+10

6-10=2A

-4=2A

-4/2=A

-2=A

A = -2

Use this to find the slope

m = A+1

m = -2+1

m = -1

The slope is -1.
