Question 911254: The directions are as follow: Solve each equation. Then graph the solution set.
The question I received was |w+1|=5 and under is a number line with negative -6 all the way to 4.
My answer is w=4 and w=-6 and I'm almost positive my answer is correct but that isn't my question.
My question is, if a number that is part of my answer in the solution set is negative (in this case -6) does this mean the answer is no solution?? Answer by ewatrrr(24785) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Re TY
Note Graph: |x+1| = y
will always have two solutions:
In this case: y = 5
solutions: (-6,5) and (4,5)
|w+1| = 5
w+1 = 5
w = 4
0r
w+1 = -5
w = -6
Note answer -6 on the number line
