They are not heading the same direction. If they were both going the same way they would meet in 4 hours
The train leaving Boston travels 40 miles before the NY train leaves for Boston
They will now merge after they have both travel a total of 160 miles.
40x+50x=160
90x=160
x=16/9
1:46:40
They will meet at 5:46:40 pm.
That is they will meet at 5:46 pm and 40 seconds.
