SOME help:
If p and q are the same degree then f has a horizontal asymptote.
If degree of p is one more than the degree of q then f has a slant asymptote which you can find simply by dividing p by q, and as x goes toward plus or minus infinity, f will appraoch the line represented for the quotient; the remainder becomes increasingly SMALL.
