Question 909581: Solve two-step equations.
-4= a+5/-3
When I first worked out the problem, I got the answer a=27. I subtracted 5 from each side to get -9= a/-3. I then multiplied each side by -3 and got 27= a. The only problem is that my teacher marked it wrong. So, now I'm confused.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

if you have:
-4=+a%2B5%2F-3
-4=+a-5%2F3
-4%2B5%2F3=+a
%28-12%2B5%29%2F3=+a
-7%2F3=+a

but, if you have
+-4=+%28a%2B5%29%2F-3+ then
-4%2A%28-3%29=+%28a%2B5%29
12+=+a%2B5
12-5+=+a
7+=+a
