(a) has no vertical asymptote because the denominator will never be zero.

(b) will have a vertical asymptotes for 4x%5E2-8=0
x%5E2-2=0
x%5E2=2
x=-sqrt%282%29 AND x=sqrt%282%29


(The "AND" for the two vertical asymptotes for (b). )
