Assigning Variables and Setting Equation To Solve:

RATES
A, 1%2F40
B, 1%2F60
c, 1%2Fc, letting c = how many days the same named c needs to do the job alone.

A works alone for 4 day;
Without A, B and c complete the work in 36 days.

%281%2F40%2B1%2F60%29%2A4%2B%281%2F60%2B1%2Fc%29%2A36=1.
This equation uses the uniform rates rule for doing a job or task, refers to the one job counted as 1. The rule is RT=J using rate time, and job. The job to be done in the example was split into two parts... one part for 4 days and the other part for 36 days.

Solve the equation for c.

A can complete a piece of work in 40 days and B in 60 days. A worked alone for 4 days and then B completed work along with c in 36 days. in how many days can C work alone to complete the work ?/

B and C completed remaining 9%2F10 of job
Thus, working alone, C can complete work in highlight_green%28highlight_green%28120%29%29 days
