Question 907252: Hi, I'm stuck on this problem, would you help me solve it, please?
Solve the linear inequality and express your answer in interval notation.
+2x%2B12%3C4+
I'm getting (-INF, -4] and my online homework system says it is incorrect. Unsure what I did wrong here.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Multiply left and right by (1/2);

x%2B6%3C2
x%3C2-6
highlight%28x%3C-4%29

You have a strict inequality, EXCLUSIVE of -4; this is why your interval notation must use the grouping symbol to exclude the -4.
ANSWER: (-infinity, -4).
