You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A + B - 16 = 26 (16 because it's 8 years ago for both A and B)
A + B = 42
B+5 = 2(A+5) - 35
B + 5 = 2A + 10 - 35
Subtract 5 from each side
B = 2A - 30
Take the value of B from that bottom equation and move it to the top equation.
A + B = 42
A + (2A-30) = 42
3A - 30 = 42
3A = 72
A = 24
If A is 24, then B is 42-24, or 18.
In 5 years, A will be 29 and B will be 23.
Twice A (58)-35 = 23
