Question 906385: At sea level, the boiling point of water is 100°C. At an altitude of 7 km, the boiling point of water is 75.5°C. Find a linear function for the boiling point of water in terms of the altitude above sea level. Answer by JoelSchwartz(130) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 100-75.5=24.5
At seven km above sea level the temperature decreased by 24.5 degrees celcius.
If i divide 24.5 by seven i get the temperature decreased every km above sea level. I know that the temperature at sea level is 100 degrees celcius and i know that every km above sea level is 3.5 degrees less. The equation to find the temperature at any elevation is 100-3.5x the x is the number of km above sea level.
