You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let X = the price of an adult ticket
since the kid ticket is 3/4 the cost of an adult ticket and 3/4=.75
Let .75X = the price of a kid ticket
there are 3 adults that bought tickets so
3X + .75X = 22.50
combine the like terms
3.75X = 22.50
divide 3.75 from both sides to get the variable X by itself
X = 6
so a kid ticket is .75(6)=4.50
check your answer:
3(6) + .75(6) = 22.50
18 + 4.50 = 22.50
22.50 = 22.50
