Question 902739: You score a 82 and 86 on the first 2 tests in your math class. You would like for your average after 3 tests to be at least a 90. Assuming that each test is worth 100 points. Is this possible? If not, why not? If yes, what score must you make to have at least a 90 average. I'm not very sure how to do this problem.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You score a 82 and 86 on the first 2 tests in your math class. You would like for your average after 3 tests to be at least a 90. Assuming that each test is worth 100 points. Is this possible? If not, why not? If yes, what score must you make to have at least a 90 average.
-------
Let the 3rd test score be "x".
Equation:
(82+86+x)/3 >= 90
---------
(168+x) = 270
x = 270-168
x = 102
-----
Ans: Impossible because you cannot get a score of 102 on the 3rd test.
