You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The length of a rectangle is x in, its width is 3 in shorter than the length. Compose an
algebraic expression for the perimeter of the rectangle. Find the value of this expression
if x = 2.

length = x
width = x - 3
Perimeter = 2 times length + 2 times width
P = 2x + 2(x - 3)
Now replace every x you see with 2 and do the math.
P = 2(2) + 2(2 - 3)
P = 4 + 4 - 6
P = 8 - 6
P = 2
The answer is 2.
