Question 901590: My hw is on using system a system of 2 equations please help I've gotten this far but confused on the next step ...
two investment were made totaling $15,000.for a certain year these investments yielded $1432 in simple interest.part of the 15,000 was invested at 9% and part10%. Find the amount invested at each rate.
My work
A)let x=$ invested 9%
. y=$ yielded $1432
B) 10•9%=9.
. 10•10%=10.
cd)x+y=15,000
. 9x+10y=1432
Don't know what to do or if I'm doing this write please help c: Found 2 solutions by solver91311, richwmiller:Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
Let represent the amount invested at 9%. The rest of the $15K was invested at 10%, so the amount invested at 10% must be . The yield on the 9% investment is and the yield on the 10% investment is and the sum of these two yields is given as $1432, hence:
Solve for then calculate

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x+y=15000,
0.09*x+0.1*y=1432
x=15000-y
0.09*(15000-y)+0.1*y=1432
1350-0.09y+0.1*y=1432
0.01*y=82
y=8200 at 10%
x=15000-y
x=6800 at 9%
check
0.09*6800+0.1*8200=1432
612+820=1432
1432=1432
