a%28x-y%29%2Bx%28x-y%29 Factor out the GCF

%28a%2Bx%29%28x-y%29 Combine like terms

Notice if we foil %28a%2Bx%29%28x-y%29 we get ax-ay%2Bx%5E2-xy again
