You can put this solution on YOUR website!
It takes one worker 5 hrs to do the same job that it takes another worker 3hrs to do.If they work together,how long can the job be done?15/8hrs,8/15hrs,4hrs,or 2hrs?
-----------
1st worker DATA;
Time = 5 hr/job ;Rate = 1/5 job/hr
--------------
2nd worker DATA:
Time = 3 hr/job ; Rate = 1/3 job/hr
-----------------
Together DATA:
Time = x hr/job ; rate = 1/x job/hr
---------------------
EQUATION"
rate + rate = together rate
1/5 + 1/3 = 1/x
Multiply thru by 15x to get:
3x + 5x = 15
8x = 15
x = (15/8) hrs (time to do the job working together)
