180-x = 2x + 40
140 = 3x, x = 46 2/3 and it's supplement is 133 1/3 degrees

Let angle's measurement be A

Then its supplement is:   180 - A

Also, its complement is:   90 - A

Therefore, 180 - A = 2(90 - A) + 40

           180 - A = 180 - 2A + 40

          - A + 2A = 180 + 40 - 180
