Hello, so my math problem is this: A board 55 feet long is cut into two pieces such that the length of one piece is two-thirds of the length of the other piece. Find the length of the shorter piece of board. So I set it up like this x+2/3x=55. Is that the right equation to use or the right set up for this problem?
You can set it up like that, but you have to remember which piece you named, x
From your equation, x is the LARGER piece, so when you derive a value for x, remember that you'll need to
