You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A man is 41 years old and his son is 9. In how many years will the father be three times as old as his son?
:
Let x = number of years for this to occur:
:
(x + 41) = 3(x+9)
x + 41 = 3x + 27
41 - 27 = 3x - x
14 = 2x
x = 14/2
x = 7 years
:
:
Check:
41+7 = 3(9+7)
48 = 3(16)
