You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To type an exponent use the ^ which points up to
where exponents are supposed to go, and then
put the exponent in parentheses, like this:
2^(x+3) - 5 = 0
2%5E%28x%2B3%29+-+5+=+0

2%5E%28x%2B3%29+=+5

Take logs of both sides

log%282%5E%28x%2B3%29%29=log%285%29

Use the principle log%28B%5EA%29=A%2Alog%28B%29

%28x%2B3%29log%282%29=log%285%29

Divide both sides by log(2)

x%2B3=log%285%29%2Flog%282%29

Subtract 3 from both sides:

x=log%285%29%2Flog%282%29-3

x=-0.6780719051
