You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-1%2F2-5%2F6+x+=+3%2F4

Simplest common denominator is 3%2A4%2Ax=12x. Multiply the left and right side of the equation by 12x and the denominators can be cleared.

12x%28-1%2F2-5%2F6+x%29+=+12x%283%2F4%29

-6x-5%2A2=9x

-10=15x

highlight%28x=-2%2F3%29

The other tutor thought the x on the second term was
on the bottom.

-1%2F2-expr%285%2F6%29x%22%22=%22%223%2F4

It won't be hard if you clear of fractions first:

The LCD of the denominators 2,6, and 4 is 12.
So multiply every term by 12

12%28-1%2F2%29-12%28expr%285%2F6%29x%29%22%22=%22%2212%283%2F4%29

-6-10x%29%22%22=%22%229

-10x%29%22%22=%22%2215

x%29%22%22=%22%2215%2F%28-10%29

x%29%22%22=%22%22-3%2F2
