Get all the terms with an +x+ on
the left side, and the constant terms
on the right side

First, add +3x+ and +2x+ on
the right side
+-8+%2B+7x+-+2+=+5x+%2B+4++
Now add the +-8+ to the +-2+
on the left side
+-10+%2B+7x+=+5x+%2B+4+
Now subtract +5x+ from both sides
+-10+%2B+2x+=+4+
Now add +10+ to both sides
+2x+=+14+
Now divide both sides by +2+
+x+=+7+ answer
