You can put this solution on YOUR website! 75,000 is over 15,000
So you take 4% of the first 15,000 in sales to get
4% of 15,000 = 0.04*15,000 = 600
So far, he's earned $600 toward his monthly paycheck.
-------------------------------------------------------
75,000 - 15,000 = 60,000
Since 60,000 is over 15,000 we take 6% of this to get
6% of 15,000 = 0.06*15,000 = 900
He has earned another $900
The total now stands at 600+900 = 1,500 dollars
-------------------------------------------------------
Now we take 10% of the sales in excess of $30,000, which is
75,000 - 30,000 = 45,000
Ten percent of that is
10% of 45,000 = 0.10*45,000 = 4,500
So he has earned $4,500 more
1,500+4,500 = 6,000
So the final total is $6,000
======================================================================
In total, he has earned $6,000 for the entire month.
Side Note: You can write this all out in one line as
0.04*15,000+0.06*15,000+0.10*45,000 = 6,000
but I find it helps to break it down
