You can put this solution on YOUR website! K = 6 + M
M = D - 2, which also means that D = M + 2
K + M + D = 62
Take the known values of K and D from the top equations and put them into the bottom.
K + M + D = 62
(6+M) + M + (M+2) = 62
Add
3M + 8 = 62
Subtract 8 from each side
3M = 54
Divide each side by 3
M = 18
If Michelle is 18, and David is two years older, then David is 20.
Karen is 6 years older than Michelle, so she is 24.
18 + 20 + 24 = 62

Let Michelle’s current age be M
Then Karen’s is: M + 6, and David’s is: M + 2
Since their ages sum to 62, then:
M + M + 6 + M + 2 = 62
3M + 8 = 62
3M = 62 – 8
3M = 54
M, or Michelle’s current age is: , or
You can do the check!!
