Question 894015: A water tank has the shape of a cone with the vertex down. The tank is 10 m high and has a base radius of 3 m. When the water in the tank is 5 m deep, what is the area of the surface of the water at that instant? (Hint: make a sketch and set up similar triangles.)
I need help as soon as possible on this problem!! I really appreciate all of the online tutors who are willing to help people like me who just can't understand word problems very clearly!! Thanks again!!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A water tank has the shape of a cone with the vertex down.
The tank is 10 m high and has a base radius of 3 m.
When the water in the tank is 5 m deep, what is the area of the surface of the water at that instant? (Hint: make a sketch and set up similar triangles.)
:
Note a right triangle formed by the radius as one side the height the other side.
If the height is cut in half, the radius side is half also 1.5 m
A+=+pi%2A1.5%5E2
A = 7.07 sq/m
