What's with x%5E3?

Can you factor the quadratic expression?
%28x%2B-+3%29%28x%2B-+5%29 ?
%28x%5E2%2B2x-15%29=0
%28x-3%29%28x%2B5%29=0
x=3 OR x=-5.

For starters, x%5E2+%2B+2x+%3C%3E+3x%5E3. I have no idea how you got 7.5!!
