Question 893648: Topic: Division of line segment
Question: how do I suppose to know the value of k in the formula of (P_1 P)/(P_1 P_2 )=(x-x_1)/(x_(2-) x_1 )=k
example: 1. The segment joining (5,11) and (-3,-1) is to be divided into four equal parts. Find the points of division.
2. the segment from (-1,4) to (2,-2) is extended three times its own length. Find the terminal point.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1.) points of division: (3,8) (1,5) and (-1,2)
For the first point of division, I used 1/4 as k, then 2/4 and 3/4.
2.) (8,-14)
