Question 893037: 1. Elaine has two suitcases that are similar rectangular solids. The length of the second suitcase is twice the length of the first suitcase. If the first suitcase has a volume of 1568 cubic inches, what is the volume of the second suitcase in cubic inches?
A. 3136
B. 6272
C. 9408
D. 12,544

The answer is listed D but I'm not sure how they got it.
The first thing I did was multiply the first volume by 2 which gave me answer A (but that was too easy of course).
I'm thinking it has to do with an exponent but I'm not sure.
Thanks for your help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1. Elaine has two suitcases that are similar rectangular solids. The length of the second suitcase is twice the length of the first suitcase. If the first suitcase has a volume of 1568 cubic inches, what is the volume of the second suitcase in cubic inches?
----------------
If they're similar, all three dimensions are 2x
--> 8x the volume
