Question 892380: Hi! I am looking for help to work through this problem: Solve for y and determine the point of intersection. Then check if correct.
{y=5}
y=-4/5x+1
I have tried: I substituted y for 5 and plug it in the 2nd equation
5=-4/5x+1
-1 -1
4/1=-4/5x
-4=x
how do I determine d point of intersection and check if correct?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You made a mistake in your calculation.
4%2F1=-%284%2F5%29x
-%284%2F5%29x=4
Multiply both sides by %28-5%2F4%29
-%284%2F5%29%28-5%2F4%29x=4%28-5%2F4%29
x=-5
You already know that y=5 and you now solved that x=-5 so the point of intersection is (-5,5)
