You can put this solution on YOUR website!
8x-12+%3E+8%2Fx

Do NOT multiply each side by x.

18x-12-8%2Fx%3E0
9x-6-4%2Fx%3E0
Bring the first two terms to higher-terms according to denominator x.
%289x%5E2-6x-4%29%2Fx%3E0

There, you want to use the NUMERATOR to see how it is related to zero; the denominator will not really be relevant, except that the solution for x must EXCLUDE x=0.

The important critical points are at x being the zeros of the numerator.

x=%286%2B-+sqrt%2836%2B4%2A9%2A4%29%29%2F%282%2A9%29
x=%286%2B-+sqrt%2836%2B36%2A4%29%29%2F%282%2A9%29
x=%286%2B-+6%2Asqrt%285%29%29%2F%286%2A3%29
x=1%2F3%2B-+sqrt%285%29%2F3

The inequality will be satisfied for highlight%28x%3C1%2F3-%281%2F3%29sqrt%285%29%29 or for highlight%28x%3E1%2F3%2B%281%2F3%29sqrt%285%29%29----
The possibility of x=0 will no longer be necessary to consider since it is not within the domain for this inequality.

how do I solve this inequality?
8x-12 > 8/x

8x+-+12+%3E+8%2Fx........x+%3C%3E+0
8x%5E2+-+12x+%3E+8 ------ Multiplying both sides be LCD, x
8x%5E2+-+12x+-+8+%3E+0
4%282x%5E2+-+3x+-+2%29+%3E+4%280%29
2x%5E2+-+3x+-+2+%3E+0
%282x+%2B+1%29%28x+-+2%29+%3E+0
2x + 1 = 0 OR x - 2 = 0 ------- Converting inequality to equality
2x = - 1 OR x = 0 + 2
x+=+-+1%2F2 OR x = 2
Critical points are -+1%2F2, 0, since x+%3C%3E+0, and 2.
Therefore the four intervals to check are: x+%3C+-+1%2F2, -+1%2F2+%3C+x+%3C+0, 0+%3C+x+%3C+2, and x+%3E+2.
Intervals that satisfy INEQUALITY: highlight_green%28highlight_green%28-+1%2F2+%3C+x+%3C+0%29%29 and highlight_green%28highlight_green%28x+%3E+0%29%29
