Question 88963: Factor each of the polynomials completely. 14x^2 - 20x + 6. I factored 14 to 7*2 and 6 to 2*3. then the parenthesis. (7x -3)(2x -2). But what I do not understand is how this would equal 20x. That is the part I am stuck on.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Notice if you foil %287x+-3%29%282x+-2%29 we get

%287x+-3%29%282x+-2%29=7x%2A2x%2B7x%2A-2-3%2A2x-3%2A-2

which simplifies to

%287x+-3%29%282x+-2%29=14x%5E2-14x-6x%2B6

where the 2 middle terms -14x and -6x combine to -20x

%287x+-3%29%282x+-2%29=14x%5E2-20x%2B6
