Question 88957: My teacher says what I am doing is wrong please help me with these to.
For each equation in exercises 26 and 28, identify the axis of symmetry, create a suitable
table of values, and sketch the graph (including the axis of symmetry).
26. x^2-5x+3
28. x^2+6x-2

You can put this solution on YOUR website! for a quadratic of the form ax^2+bx+c, the equation for the axis of symmetry is x=-b/(2a) ... once you find this value, you should select values on either side of it for a "suitable" table of values ... the y values are found by plugging the x values into the quadratic
28. x^2+6x-2 ... axis of symmetry, x=-6/(2*1), x=-3 ... table of values; (-3,-11), (-2,-10), (-4,-10), (0,-2), (-6,-2), (1,5), (-7,5) ... these are also the points for graphing
the axis of symmetry is a vertical line at x=-3
