Question 889214: Any help appreciated, thanks!
A factory manager is working to write a schedule of hours for his 20 workers.
Each individual works a 40 hour work week. This particular factory makes two products(calculators and Personal Digital Assistants). If each hour worked on building calculators earns the factory $10 and each hour worked on building PDAs earns the factory $15, howmany hours should be spent building calculators if the manager wants to earn a profit of $9000? What about $10000 or $20000? What should the factory manager decide if he wants to earn the maximum profit?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+20+ workers each work +40+ hrs, so
+20%2A40+=+800+ hrs total
Let +h+ = hours worked on calculators
+800+-+h+ = hours worked on PDAs
-------------------
Let +P+ = total profit for a week
+P+=+10h+%2B+15%2A%28+800+-+h+%29+
-----------------------------
(a)
+P+=+9000+
+9000+=+10h+%2B+15%2A%28+800+-+h+%29+
+9000+=+10h+%2B+12000+-+15h+
+5h+=+12000+-+9000+
+5h+=+3000+
+h+=+600+
and
+800+-+h+=+800+-+600+
+800+-+h+=+200+
-------------------
600 hrs should be spent working on calculators
200 hrs should be spent working on PDAs
-------------------
You can do the other two
