Set x = the original price
The regular price - ( one fourth of the regular price ) = $30
( x - (1/4)*x ) = 30
4/4 x - 1/4 x = 30
3/4 x = 30
multiply each side by 4/3
x = 30 * 4/3
x = 120/3
x = 40
So the original price was $40
