You can put this solution on YOUR website!
of two numbers ,
a & b
:
4 times the smaller one is less than 3 times the larger one by 6,
3a - 4b = 6
rewrite this to
4b = 3a - 6
b = 3%2F4b - 6%2F4
b = .75a - 1.5
:
the sum of two numbers is larger than 6 times their difference by 5.
a + b - 6(a-b) = 5
a + b - 6a + 6b = 5
-5a + 7b = 5
replace b with (.75a - 1.5)
-5a + 7(.75a - 1.5) = 5
-5a + 5.25a - 10.5 = 5
.25a = 5 + 10.5
.25a = 15.5
a = 4(15.5)
a = 62
Find b
b = .75(62) - 1.5
b = 46.5 - 1.5
b = 45
:
find the numbers: 62 and 45
:
You can confirm this for yourself, use these two values in both statements
