You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the pays be A and B.
A%2BB=300
One get 25 more than the other.
A=B%2B25
Substitute into the first equation.
%28B%2B25%29%2BB=300
2B%2B25=300
2B=275
highlight%28B=137.50%29
Then,
A=137.50%2B25
highlight%28A=162.50%29

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +x+ = the worker who makes
less money than the other
The worker who makes the most money
makes +x+%2B+25+
--------------------
Together they make +300+, so I can say:
+x+%2B+x+%2B+25+=+300+
+2x+=+300+-+25+
+2x+=+275+
+x+=+137.5+
and
+x+%2B+25+=+162.5+
---------------------
One gets 137.50 and the other gets 162.50
check:
+137.5+%2B+162.5+=+300+
+300+=+300+
---------------
Hope this helps

There are two ways to do this problem:

First way:

Two workers earn £300 between them.
One worker earns £x
The other earns £300-£x

One worker gets £25 more than the other.
So £x = £300-£x + £25
    x = 300 - x + 25
    x = 325 - x
   2x = 325
    x = 162.50

One worker earns £x = £162.50
The other earns £300-£x = £300-£162.50 = £137.50

---------------------------------
Second way:

One worker gets £25 more than the other
Other worker gets £x
So the one worker gets £x + £25

Two workers earn £300 between them.
Therefore the equation is

£x + £x + £25 = £300
   x + x + 25 = 300
      2x + 25 = 300
           2x = 275
            x = 137.50

So

The other worker gets £x = £137.50
The one worker gets £x + £25 = £137.50 + £25 = £162.50
