4)A bag contains 29 coins, some dimes and some quarters. The total amount of money in the bag is $3.65. How many dimes and how many quarters are in the bag?
.
If all 29 coins are quarters, then the total will be $7.25
Since the actual total is $3.65, there is a difference of 3.60
The difference between a quarter and a dime is .15
3.60 divided by .15 = 24
24 of the coins are dimes for a total of $2.40
The other 5 coins are quarters for a total of $1.25
Total = 2.40 + 1.25 or $3.65
