That means 2x%2B2y=8%2Ay because y%3Cx, so y is the shorter side.

2x%2B2y-2y=8y-2y
2x%2B0=6y
2x%2Fx=6y%2Fx
2=6y%2Fx
2%2F6=6y%2F%28x%2A6%29
1%2F3=y%2Fx
or the reciprocals
3=x%2Fy
