Ans :- "Let's assume that the first potato is placed at the start line, and that the time spent to scoop up the potato is included in the 12ft/second.
After 1 second, he will have 3 potatoes -- including the one at the start line
After 2 second, 5 potatoes
3 seconds, 7 potatoes
4 seconds, 9 potatoes
5, 11
6, 13
7, 15
7.5 seconds to get that last potato. "

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Book answers are often incorrect. The publisher changes the problem but forgets to change the answers. The numbers in the problem were changed but the answer was never changed.
